Overview
Neomedix Systems Pty Ltd (NMS) is a privately held Australian biotechnology company focused upon the development and clinical application of diagnostic/therapeutic devices.
The company was founded in 1977 and unlike most manufacturing businesses in the medical industry, it had first been a successful, importer/distributor of high cost, complex medical diagnostic capital equipment, including high end bedside patient monitoring products from Marquette Electronics Inc.,(now GE Medical). Other manufacturers represented included Nicolet Biomedical, Sensormedics and Medical Graphics Inc.
In the early 1980s, NMS started to successfully develop and manufacturer its own products which now dominate the Australasian Urology market. These products are used for pre and post-operative clinical assessment of the lower urinary tract. The company can demonstrate extensive experience in medical product development and subsequent sales, marketing and clinical application support.
Core Diagnostic Product (Acquidata)
NMS is the domestic market leader in three clinical diagnostic areas of urogynaecology, urology and anorectal manometry for the pre and post operative assessment for continence surgery and anorectal motility abnormalities. NMS undertook product development in the early 1980’s of these (then) new areas of patient diagnostic monitors and released its chart based neotrace and urotrace products. The products have continued to evolve in clinical function and format and are now highly developed and are available to operate on both Windows 7 and Mac (OSX) platforms. Several clinical innovations including perfused lumen pressure and displaced air flow in urodynamics monitoring as well as ‘in application’ operator guides in the form of short ‘movie clips’ have been pioneered by NMS.
Co-operative development with a USA based clinical group has commenced and a new dedicated data acquisition and diagnostic workstation is projected for clinical release in 2011. This will for the first time in this market provide analytically based, anatomy focused surgical recommendation.
Although previous models have been exported to Europe and the USA the company has re-commencing export market activity with its new multiplatform product.
