Overview
| The Lung Institute of Western Australia (Inc) (“LIWA”) is the only integrated scientific and clinical research institute in Australia dedicated specifically to research into respiratory and allergic disease. LIWA is located at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth and is formally affiliated with Curtin University and the University of Western Australia. LIWA is also an accredited National Health & Medical Research Council Institute. LIWA's goals are to support high quality research into the treatment and management of patients with asthma, allergic diseases and other lung diseases including chronic bronchitis, emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis, vascular disease and lung cancer, to improve the well-being of patients, and to further the careers of young scientists. LIWA is collaborating with the CRC for Asthma & Airways to carry out projects investigating the interaction of air quality and lung health and aimed at understanding which genes are relevant to asthma and its therapy. |
