Farmacule BioIndustries Pty Ltd
Overview
On the 11th of August 2010, Farmacule BioIndustries Pty Ltd merged with Leaf Energy Ltd (formerly AquaCarotene Ltd) to create a leading plant biotechnology company with a core focus on the production of biofuels and high value commercial proteins.
As part of the merger, the parent company retained the structure of Farmacule BioIndustries Pty Ltd to continue the research and development activities.
Farmacule BioIndustries (Farmacule) was first established in 2001 to drive the development of technologies and products from Australia’s first sustainable molecular farming industry based on the research of Professor James Dale and his INPACT® technology.
The technology was developed for the purpose of providing a sophisticated proprietary gene switching and amplification system which increases the expression and yield in selected plants of novel molecules of interest.
Farmacule held world exclusive rights to the patented technology, as well as additional complementary patented technology. Following the merger with AquaCarotene, all ownership rights in the INPACT® technology together with a number of previously licensed technologies from QUT were transferred to the Leaf Energy subsidiary- Farmacule BioIndustries Pty Ltd.
